Randy Waldrum has declined NFF’s appointment as head coach of Nigeria’s women national team Super Falcons.
Waldrum’s appointment as coach of the University of Pittsburgh women’s soccer team on Wednesday, December 19 ratified his refusal of the NFF’s job offer.
The federation executive committee approved the appointment of the 61-year-old in October 2017 as a replacement for ex-Super Falcons player and coach, Florence Omagbemi who led the Falcons to win the African Women’s Championship in Cameroon in 2016.
Reports has it that Waldrum wrote to the NFF on Wednesday to reveal he is no longer interested in coaching Nigeria.
“We are thrilled to announce Randy Waldrum as our head women’s soccer coach at the University of Pittsburgh,” Pitt’s director of Athletics stated on the team’s website.
