Nigeria become first African country to qualify for Bobsled event in Winter Olympics

History is made as Nigeria will become the first African country to participate in the Bobsled event in the winter Olympics billed for PyeongChang in 2018.

Nigeria Women’s Bobsled team qualified for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games on Friday to etch their names into history books.

The Super Eagles women’s bobsled team, composed of Seun Adigun, Ngozi Onwumere, and Akuoma Omeoga, completed the required five races successfully to earn the qualification berth.

Their first qualifying race was in the North America Cup in Park City, Utah where Adigun and her brakeman Omeoga completed two races in January.

They went on to Whistler, Canada for their second track where Adigun and her brakeman, Onwumere were the only team to complete the first race.

The team secured qualification in Calgary when they completed their fourth and fifth races for a place at the 23rd Winter Olympic games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
