NWPL Super 4 Opening Day: Rivers Angels lose 2-0, Nasarawa Amazons pip Bayelsa Queens

Rivers Angels 0-2 Delta Queens

Defending champions Rivers Angels began their campaign to retain the Nigeria Women Premier League (NPFL) trophy on the back foot, losing 2-0 to Delta Queens on the opening day of this year’s NWPL Super 4 on Monday.

Despite going into the encounter as favourites, Edwin Okon’s team suffered as goals from Amerat Adebisi and Rosemary Okezie claimed three points for the ladies from Delta.

Nasarawa Amazons 1-0 Bayelsa Queens

In the second game played on Monday, Nasarawa Amazons pipped Bayelsa Queens 1-0 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

Ugochi Emenayo netted from the penalty spot in the 26th minute of the match as the Lafia-based club claimed their first three points of the tourney, which produces the overall winner of the elite Nigerian women league.
